Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain. The mind does not create what it perceives, any more than the eye creates the rose. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Dedicated to all the brave people that ask for help. Being authentic and not hiding when times are troubled, allows people to see us for who we truly are, as our tears fall, we share our words and stand tall. By being truthful, we achieve personal freedom and we become fearless, thus empowering others to be true too.In life we will all stumble and fall, but the strong amongst us lead the way by walking the path of honesty, so that our tears of sorrow turn to the road of joy and pride. The brave show ………… if I can do it, then, so can you.
Journey 1 Dottie helped me through the worst patch of my life, we conquered not only the physical side of my anorexia, but the mental side also. The support and care that I received, both in our sessions and outside them too, through positive messages, checking up and always being there, whatever the hour, helped me overcome so many obstacles. She is amazing and helped me to shine and think positively and to be the best version of myself

Journey 4
The first time I met Dottie she kindly made me a cup of tea at her home, somehow, I managed to spill the whole cup over the beautiful floor. She replied that why we have wooden floors please don’t worry about it. I learnt a lot from this………. Take a moment and breathe
Changing my angry red moments into calm blue ones has helped me loads during my day to day situations.
Dottie is a person that I look up to and admire and would open up my heart to 100%
Journey 5
Thank you so much for your counselling these past few months. I've seen an improvement in myself throughout the duration of our sessions and so have my family.
You have taught me how to better process my thoughts and emotions, and how to not only accept parts of myself but more importantly other people in my life. I recognise the need to be patient with myself and not set limits or expectations prematurely. Going through the process of dealing with coroners and my mum's passing has been made easier with your counselling, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Journey 6

I will never forget your kindness and compassion.
You are truly an inspiration.
Thank you again
Journey 15
Thank you seems to very easy to say to you but equally not enough. I am so grateful for your help, guidance, support and our new found friendship. I do feel that I wouldn’t be in the place I am without you helping me pick up the pieces of what is called ‘my life’. You have made me believe and keep going when I thought I couldn’t. As hard as some of our times and conversations together are, I know it is for my greater good and you can see something in me.
The small messages you send lift me and keep me on track on trying to improve and learn about myself.

Dear Dottie
Thank you, Dottie for all your love and support, I would have been lost without you.
Journey 21
From the first meeting, I felt completely at ease and felt comfortable explaining what I wished to get from the sessions. I was free to say as little or as much about the situation and background as I wanted. This open approach encouraged honesty, which to me was vital if I was to get the maximum benefit from counselling. Though out the early sessions, I was given may coping tips and strategies and given guidance during this difficult period. To focus on memories, no matter how small was invaluable advice. My initial thoughts were to focus on large scale things like holidays, but the smaller things in life turned out to be much more important. My wife sadly passed away in November. Naturally, my needs from our sessions changed but Dottie was fully aware of what was needed and had the courage to tell me about the grieving process. Naturally I will never know how I would have coped without the counselling session but I am sure that I have coped much better with Dottie’s support and guidance than I would have otherwise. I’m very disappointed that my sessions with Dottie have finished, I will miss her and her support. I’m sure thought that I am now much better equipped to cope with whatever life throws at me. I would recommend, without hesitation, that anyone who needs support seeks that support from Dottie.

Journey 35
Thank you so much Dottie for helping me find direction and find myself again.
Journey 36
Dottie has been a lifesaver for me and I mean that literally. She somehow worked magic. I was very confused, very unhappy, had no self-respect, no self-esteem. I had no confidence in looking after myself or dealing with difficult parenting issues.
Dottie stripped things down for me so that I was able to deal with day to day issues, so that I respected myself and others, so that I didn’t feel the only way to communicate my pain was to make it visible by hurting myself. Instead I learnt that I did not need others people’s approval if I was confident in what I was doing was right, did not need others to see my pain because I had self-respect to acknowledge it myself and ultimately that I had the ability and power to control my life rather than it control me. I do not know how Dottie facilitated this for me, but I do know that she did and I am immensely grateful to her, proud of her and I feel very privileged to have known her.
Journey 37
Call it magic, call it true,
Call it magic that we found you
And we just got broken nearly into two
Still we call it magic when we talked with you
And if you were to ask us after all that we’ve been through
Still believe in magic
Yes, we do
Of course, we do!!
Journey 38
I have a little problem and I worry quite a lot. I go and see a lovely lady and her name is dot. She saw that I would need to know a way to let my feelings show. I talk to her of many things, she is my angel without the wings.
Journey 39
When I was upside down, inside out and full of dreams of dread, Dottie would turn them into actions of pure bliss, childhood kiss from mum, who I dearly miss
Journey 40
Just a little card to say thank you for your counselling and guidance over what would have been a very difficult period in my life otherwise.

You are a ray of sunshine and the brightest star.
(A thank you poem sent from videos that I shared during Corvid 19)
Journey 43
I’ve been seeing Dottie as a counsellor now for just over 18 months. I distinctly recall the very first time I talked with her; I knew her calm, measured approach would be right one for me. She showed great empathy right from the start.
She’s been a great listener, friend and advisor. She’s been there for me at the toughest of times and is always able to see the bigger picture and will often be able to give practical advice on how to take the next steps.
I’ve always looked forward to my sessions with Dottie, she is the most positive person I know and not only has a passion for life, but living life to the very full.
I feel luck to have met Dottie and I’m pleased I have her as someone I can reply upon in my life. I wish I’d met her sooner.
Journey 44
Still going strong and feeling good with everything. I so appreciate all you did for me, you were AWESOME.
Journey 45
They have been helpful for me to start my recovery and plan a way forward to avoid this happening again, Thanks.
Journey 46
I have found my sessions with Dottie very helpful. I am now in a much better place and happier. She is very friendly and made me feel at ease straight away. She encouraged me to talk about what was worrying me and my situation, family, friends and what I enjoyed. This helped tailor the right solutions for me, which I feel is really important. We have found ways for me to cope when I’m struggling and help me to feel more positive. These are things I can continue to use.
Journey 47
I would recommend Dottie to anyone needing help. She is an angel in disguise! Truly understands the human mind.
Journey 48
I would like to say a huge thank you for your great advice and guidance. You have helped me realise a lot within our sessions, your kind words and experience has allowed me to become confident again and gain happiness. You have made me realise how special life really is and how by just talking to someone can mean so much. You have guided me hugely, I have been able to regain relationships with my parents, realise that I am much much more than the self doubt I was always telling myself. I am so grateful and fortunate to have had you by my side. Since day one you have made me feel so welcome and comfortable around you. You really are so lovely. Having you by my side, knowing I had sessions with you each week or two allowed me to keep motivated. I enjoyed getting my steps up on our walks, this has now taught me how enjoyable walks can be. I started with no exercise and now 3 months on I walk twice a day, track my steps and really enjoy the countryside and fresh air and I am now enjoying the gym! It really helps with my mental health and I don't dread exercise anymore. You have guided me in so many different ways from family issues, depression and anxiety, self esteem, and my physical health/weight massively. I will always remember the kind, thoughtful things you have said to me.
This year has been awful, I would have never imagined myself to be in this position but I am so thankful that work have allowed me to have these sessions with you.
Your smile gets me each time I see you. You have the biggest, cheesy, heartwarming smile which makes me smile :) After each session, I leave with a big smile on my face as the sessions are so meaningful, you really provide the best service. I never open up to anyone but you allow me to. I really value the effort you've put into helping me regain my happiness. the flexibility you offer and the overall brilliant service.
I would definitely recommend because I know you will carry on helping other people out just like me and make a huge difference with their mental health.
Thank you Dottie, I have enjoyed our sessions and found them a great help.
